Après avoir obtenu le diplôme d’ingénieur en électronique de Politechnika Warszawska, elle travaille comme expert international en brevets à Polservice (Varsovie). Elle fait un DEA d’automatique, option Traitement de l’Information à l’Université Paris Diderot, puis de la recherche à l’INRIA jusqu’à la fin de 1981. Dans le cadre de sa thèse, elle réalise une maquette d’un processeur spécialisé en consultation de bases documentaires en langage naturel (projet Trèfle). Ensuite, dans le cadre du projet Kayak, elle participe à la conception du Buroviseur le premier ordinateur personnel multimédia pour le travail collaboratif.

En 1982 elle rejoint le Groupe Bull pour travailler successivement dans la Direction Etudes et Développement, Unité Scientifique et au CEDIAG (Centre d’Etudes et Développement en Intelligence Artificielle Groupe Bull). Dans le cadre des activités Etudes, elle participe à la conception du processeur de service DPS7000 et fait son premier système d’aide au diagnostic des cartes électroniques utilisant les techniques de l’Intelligence Artificielle. Pour approfondir sa connaissance de théories, approches et techniques de l’IA, elle retourne à l’université (LRI, Université Paris 11).

En 1987 elle participe à la définition et met en œuvre les coopérations avec les établissements Enseignement et Recherche autour de produits: Lisp, Prolog, KOOL (Knowledge représentation Object Oriented Language) et Charme (programmation par contraintes). Début d’applications industrielles. Création d’un Club d’Utilisateurs en 1989 (Communauté de pratique et l’Innovation avec les clients) afin d’échanger les expériences et faire participer les clients dans l’évolution des produits, souvent dans le cadre de projets de recherche communs.

En 1990, elle rejoint le CEDIAG où elle a en charge successivement le support technique, le marketing des produits IA, définition des outils, l’analyse de problèmes clients et l’élaboration des solutions, puis elle est responsable d’Applications Innovantes au niveau mondial. Suite à ces expériences, elle mène des réflexions sur une approche globale à l’organisation et gestion des connaissances depuis 1991.

Elle quitte Groupe Bull en 1994 pour créer SMLE dédié à la formation et accompagnement en matière d’organisation et de gestion des connaissances et de l’innovation. Travail en partenariat avec ENTOVATION International pour l’aspect managerial et stratégique du Knowledge Management et Knowledge Innovation depuis 1996. Eunika Mercier-Laurent fait partie de 100 spécialistes mondiaux du réseau Entovation (E100) www.entovation.com/kleadmap.

Elle a contribué à la définition d’un standard en Knowledge Management Delphi Study KIKM avec University of Kentucky et à la création du programme de recherche GKII (Global Knowledge Innovation Infrastructure) Entovation Intl. en partenariat avec The Banff Research Center for Management, partenaires scientifiques et industriels.

Elle est membre de l’Institut F.R. Bull depuis 1987 ou elle anime le groupe de reflexion « Innovation, education, et développement équilibré ». Elle est membre associé du Bureau AFIA (Association Française pour l’Intelligence Artificielle), conseiller scientifique du réseau régional et international des compétences Transinnova, expert Oséo, ANR, PICF, Eureka et Programme M. Curie, Who is Who in Engineering, éditeur SIG Education, learning and KM sur le KMboard européen, membre du comité éditorial de CAAI Transactions on Intelligent Systems.  Elle a été élu Chairman du groupe TC12.6 IFIP (Knowledge Management) en 2008.

Elle enseigne des différents domaines du Knowledge Innovation et l’approche connaissance à la résolution des problèmes, entre autres à L’Ecole Hubert Curien, Bourges (Ingénierie du Retour d’expérience, Knowledge Management,  outils web). Cours en ligne : DESS Communautés virtuelles et l’intelligence collective à Limoges et à Paris 5 (Webmestre éditorial), les deux sont internationaux. Ses cours en anglais dans les masters internationaux de l’ENSAM et à EPITA. Visiting Professor à l’Université Economique de Katowice (13/5-30/10 2014)

Elle co-encadre des thésards depuis 1987 et  a obtenu son HDR en 2007 à l’Université Jean Moulin, Lyon.

Elle participe en tant que conférencier, organise les journées Industrie Recherche pour l’AFIA et coorganise d’autres évènements sur les différents domaines du KM. Elle est co-fondatrice de l’Université Euroméditeraneenne de l’Innovation. Plus de cent articles et livres font partie de ses publications. Une éducation nouvelle multiculturelle et multilangues, cherchant à amplifier l’imagination et l’intelligence ainsi que l’innovation globale et systémique (e-co-innovation) font partie de ses préoccupations.
